The War Within.
EVERYDAY.

“How many special people change
How many lives are living strange
Where were you while we were getting high?

Sure the ‘Oasis’ were snorting some pretty unhinged stuff while writing this song.

Have you realised how you are.. at War everyday? You think you are taking on the World. Uh. The reality is that the only person you are fighting is You. Nobody wills you to do what you do everyday. But you do it anyway. Sometimes you go out of your way. It helps if you achieve what you set out to do. Its exasperating if you do not. Damn.

Have you thought about the following things; not in any particular order but;

  • Your Intelligence getting numbed.
  • Your Instincts getting blunted.
  • Becoming an imbecile.
  • Being a sucker for all the easy things in life.

I have felt all this. And I am one of the forerunners of the Fitness Industry in India. Circa 2006.

You lose control. Of your health. Your scheme.

I lost it. And then I found(ed) it.

NAMMA for me is a War Within.

EVERYDAY.

And for EVERYBODY in it.

WOD is War is a singular Training Program to elevate your net fitness levels.

This scene from Rocky Balboa, the sixth movie in the beloved pugilistic series, is imbued with emotional resonance, especially because what he says is true. I’m really passionate about the armed forces. Especially the terrestrial units, which are arguably one of the strongest armies in the world. I have a personal inspiration in the form of my cousin and his involvement in the army. His stories of fortitude and tenacity really roused me in my childhood. I used to wake up before the crack of dawn and slept early at 9 pm. I fuelled myself right and I excelled at what I did. I had more freedom to live life on my own terms. The moment I stopped cricket, I got caught up in a whirlpool of responsibilities. I became a coach. An entrepreneur. A businessman. A family man. I found it arduous to get back into the routine that nourished and sustained me from when I was ten years old to the age of twenty- seven. As I view the world now with new lenses, I relate more with the people training with us regarding their problems inside and outside the gym.  As you get older and start shouldering more responsibilities, it starts getting tough. All of us battle challenges at multiple fronts. This is where we come in.

 

Our program trains you like a soldier. The drills and movements mimic the drills of a soldier who is taught to be proficient in multiple skills. It’s not just limited to weightlifting or running but often things that are neglected in a regular gym like balance, coordination, agility and flexibility. These attributes vastly enhance your quality of life. Mediocrity, not part of a soldier’s arsenal, most certainly will not be part of yours either. All your physical abilities that are required to develop overall fitness are going to be challenged and improved. Functionality, work capacity and recovery all shoot up through the ceiling. The magnificent by-products are a good physique and lower fat percentage. You will constantly be progressed. You will never be too fit. There will always be something to learn. If you get injured, you will address it and get right back to it. That is the nature of a soldier. That is the nature of WAR.
